SENTINEL (Sustainable Energy Transitions Laboratory)
EU Horizon 2020 research project, ETH Zurich, 2020
“The transition to a low-carbon energy system will involve a major redesign of the energy system, primarily around renewable sources, in accordance with 2030 and 2050 targets that the European Union has defined.
SENTINEL, the Sustainable Energy Transitions Laboratory, is developing energy system modelling support for this transition. On this website you can find out more about our project and our consortium.
We will work closely with other projects and networks, including our sister project OpenENTRANCE funded through the same call, and the Energy Modelling Platform for Europe. SENTINEL started in June 2019 and will run for three years.”
My involvement
I will participate in modeling the possibility of supplying 100% of EU electricity demand (under a range of scenarios e.g. vastly increased electrification of transport / industry etc.) via the use of a global grid.
For more information, see the SENTINEL website.
