Keith Williges

Biography

I recently received my doctorate from the Department of Economics and Doctoral Programme Climate Change at the University of Graz in Austria, and am currently a post-doc jointly at the Institute of Philosophy and Wegener Center for Climate and Global Change

Prior to my time at Uni Graz, I obtained a MSc. in socio-ecological economics and policy at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, after completing my BA in environmental policy and analysis at Boston University.

I am also a scientist at the Wegner Center for Climate and Global Change. My research interests are centered around the transition to a low-carbon society and the impacts of weather- and climate-related disasters. My recent work has focused on modeling interhemispheric trade in electricity and the potential impacts of climate change on the energy sector and possible co-benefits of mitigation.

I have published in a range of academic journals, including Nature Climate Change, Global Environmental Change, and Energy Policy.

Outside of my research I try to spend as much time as I can in the mountains around my home, hiking, kayaking or skiing, or else I’m trying to build robots and design an automated garden system.
